Haha! Yeah, his stride took him half way to home plate! I was fortunate to have some success against Kevin though, as I was a leadoff “punch and Judy” hitter, poking balls into right field. Ah the memories!
Love these, Marty! I played in the Hal Sprehe game with Kevin! Played against him in the then newly formed Babe Ruth baseball league, too. Thanks for your dedication to the connection of the past and present!
Thanks Tony. When I looked back at the story from that game I saw you played in it which was really cool. That game was clearly a huge deal in its early years. I wasn't aware of how good Kevin was as a pitcher. Ed Molitor Sr. had a great story of having Kevin in gym class for team handball and he threw it so hard he splintered the wood bleachers. Said he moved Kevin to goalie so he wouldn't hurt anyone!

I can only imagine that facing those tall, skinny guys like McKenna and Dave Otto back in those days was not a real pleasant experience!
