As a real Track junkie, this is a very impressive summary of the history of the MSL!! Love reading every line! Obviously, The MSL has a RICH history, at the State Meet. On a side note, as a very proud Dad, our son JD Teach who won the state Shot Put title in 1990, also set the MSL Shot Put record 64'4" back in 1990. A record that is still is intact. He went on to U. of Illinois and was a 4 Time Big Ten Shot Put Champ and 2 Time All American. Out of 8 career attempts for a Big Ten Title, Indoor & Outdoor, he placed in the Top 3, 7 times. During his Red Shirt year, he took up Olympic weight lifting and Won the Junior National Championships and went on to take 10th in the World Championships in Bulgaria. A shoulder injury kept him out of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Thanks agian for all your work putting this together!! Coach Teach, Head Track coach at Palatine 1973-81.
Marty, I appreciate the work that you put into this project. Let me know when you do boys soccer! I have a lot of ‘stuff’,’ even some grainy video from my junior year at Elk Grove ‘75 (still a ‘club’ team), and then senior year when the MSL officially kicked off!
Thanks - we definitely have to get together this summer to go through what you have for soccer. Hope all is well with you and appreciate your support as always!
Thanks Marty for another wonderful stroll down memory lane. Can't quite understand where 50 years went, but I'll be sure to enjoy this year's meet with a bunch of old track bum buddies in Charleston next month. Mark the calendar, it'll be the first 90° day of the year.
Thanks Steve - glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like it will be fun with a lot of memories in particular this year in Charleston. Do you guys go back every year? And so true on it being 90 either Friday or Saturday or both. Likely with a threat of severe weather. And usually after the sectionals were run in the 50s with a nice drizzle.
